Rector’s Team for Ecology and Climate Change

A new Rector’s Team for Ecology and Climate Change was established for the 2025–2028 term, wich continues the work of the team of the previous term of 2021-2024.

The Chair of the Rector’s Team for Ecology and Climate Change is Professor Ewa Krogulec, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Development at the University of Warsaw. Prof. Krogulec also chairs the Committee of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), serves as Vice-Chair of the National Water Management Council, and is a member of the Water Management Committee of PAN. In 2021, she was appointed to the Climate Council of the UN Global Compact Network Poland.

The team’s work focuses on preparing positions and recommendations for University of Warsaw organizational units concerning pro-environmental actions and solutions. A key aim is to develop joint strategies for environmental protection in cooperation with representatives from the scientific community, academic society, business sector, non-governmental organizations, and public authorities.

In October 2021, the University of Warsaw joined the “Race to Zero” initiative as the first university in Poland. In doing so, the university pledged to reduce its generated carbon footprint by half by 2030.
